Layer One Modem Software Engineer

【Group./Dept.】CDMA

【Responsibilities】
1. Develop algorithms and perform sub-system design for physical and MAC layers of CDMA and other cellular phone standards；
2. Code, unit test, integration, and system tests of physical and MAC layer software for cellular applications；
a. Modem processing and modem control loops； RF drivers； low-level communication protocols； MAC layer Processing；
3. Occasional debug or response to customer problems that are too difficult to be resolved by the customer support team.

【Requirements】
1. Experience in software development in all phases of software lifecycle including requirements analysis, designing, implementing, and testing/debugging complex software applications and drivers；
2. Candidate should posses two or more of the following skills；
a. Basic understanding of communication theory concepts such as modulation, demodulation, encoding, decoding, frequency tracking, acquisition, power control, automatic frequency control (AFC), automatic gain control (AGC), channel tuning, radio calibration；
b. Skills with basic communication mathematics related to topics such as power, frequency, quantitization, and noise；
c. Knowledge of C/C++ in embedded systems；
d. Knowledge of fixed-point DSP software design and implementation；
e. Familiarity with software development for ARM or other general microcontrollers.
3. Familiarity with software project management concepts such as configuration management, hierarchical release strategy, and system regression tests strategy；
4. Understanding of wireless communication systems, such as cellular systems (UMTS, GSM/GPRS, CDMA, etc), IEEE802.1x systems, or DVB/MPEG system；
5. The team member should also be capable of estimating his/her own schedule, and managing work to that schedule；
6. Good English communication skills；
7. Industrial Experience is a plus；
8. BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related major is required；
9. MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related major is preferred.
