In 1885, Mr. Albert Boehringer Ingelheim established Boehringer Ingelheim Company in Ingelheim Town near the Rhine in Germany, and selected the local castle of well-known Charlemagne as the Company's logo. The current logo was evolved from that.

1885年阿尔伯特·勃林格先生在德国莱茵河畔的殷格翰小城建立了勃林格殷格翰公司。并以知名的查理曼大帝在当地的城堡为公司的标志设计。现在公司的标志设计就是由此演变而来。

In 2010, the net sales of Boehringer Ingelheim Company amounted to 12.6 billion Euros. At the same time, the Company invested 24% of sales of its largest business - prescription drugs operations- into R&D.

Boehringer Ingelheim set up its China branch office in March 1994, and Boehringer Ingelheim International Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was registered in Waigaoqiao in 1995. The Company entered into Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park and established Boehringer Ingelheim Shanghai Pharmaceuticals Ltd in 1998. In 2002, Zhangjiang Factory was set up officially. In 2003, the animal health business was launched in China officially. In 2009, the Company announced the 100 million Euros of investment increase plan in China. In 2010, Center of Competence,China (CoC) was established. In 2011, Boehringer Ingelheim (China) Investment Co., Ltd was founded.

1994年3月勃林格殷格翰在中国设立办事处，1995年勃林格殷格翰国际贸易（上海）有限公司在外高桥注册成立。1998年公司进驻上海张江高科技园区成立上海勃林格殷格翰药业有限公司，2002年张江工厂正式落成。2003年正式在中国开展动物保健业务。2009年公司宣布在华1亿欧元的增资计划。2010年中国中心实验室（CoC）宣布成立。2011年勃林格殷格翰（中国）投资有限公司成立。

Now, the main businesses of Boehringer Ingelheim in China include prescription medicines, consumer healthcare products, animal health and international procurement. Headquartered in Shanghai, Boehringer Ingelheim China spreads its presence all over major provinces, cities and regions and has more than 2000 employees. The Company had set up operation branch offices in Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Wuhan and Shenyang by the end 2010. The Company constantly brings its innovative pharmaceutical products and disease treatment solutions to China, in order to make contributions to improving the quality of life for Chinese patient. Human medicines listed in China include Micardis for essential hypertension; Spiriva , Mucosulvan , Atrovent and Combivent for respiratory diseases; Sifrol for the Parkinson’s, Rt-pa for acute myocardial infarction and cerebral infarction, as well as Mobic for arthritis, slowly release drugs such as dulcolax and so on.

目前勃林格殷格翰在华的主要业务包括：处方药、消费者自主保健品、动物保健以及国际采购。勃林格殷格翰中国总部设于上海，业务范围遍及全国各主要省市和地区，拥有员工2000多人。至2010年公司在北京、广州、成都、南京、杭州、武汉、沈阳设立了分公司。公司不断将其创新的药品和疾病治疗方案引入中国，以期为改善中国患者的生活质量做出贡献。在中国上市的人体用药产品包括用于治疗原发性高血压的美卡素 ; 用于呼吸疾病治疗的思力华 , 沐舒坦 、爱全乐 和可必特 ; 治疗帕金森病的森福罗 ，用于急性心梗和脑梗的爱通立 ，以及关节炎的莫比可 、缓泄药乐可舒 等。

Looking ahead, we expect more advances in Chinese market; in the field of human medicines, we hope to be the lead or important participator in the respiratory, cardiovascular, central nervous system, diabetes and cancer and other critical fields; for the animal health, we hope to become an important participator in the fields of livestock animal vaccines and drugs as well as the lead in the field of swine vaccine.

Adhering to the strength accumulated in the course of development for more than a century, Boehringer Ingelheim China will put greater enthusiasm to the effort to make remarkable contributions to Chinese healthcare industry.
