Hardware Engineer

Individual will participate in developing signal processing products for use in professional television studios. These products operate on audio and video signals to provide the functions of image scaling, synchronization, compression, decompression, routing, delay, signaling format conversion, parametric manipulation and other functions. Some products operate stand-alone while others serve as elements of larger coordinated systems. Integral to this work is the design of the associated control systems. Individual must possess an ability to rapidly absorb new information and adapt existing designs and process into a high mix of new projects. Communications with software engineers is essential to this work. The successful applicant will possess the following attributes:

3+ years experience in board-level hardware design in a new product development environment.
BS or advanced degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
Proficiency in the use of CAD tools like OrCAD CIS and Cadence Allegro is required.
Ability to code low level software and device drivers in C or assembly code is required.
Proficiency in coding in Verilog or VHDL is required.
Proven experience with the application of complex components such as FPGAs, microprocessors, high-speed DRAM, and gigabit rate serial interfaces like Ethernet and Fibre Channel is a plus.
Familiarity with Linux and the Linux kernel is a plus.
Experience in directing the work of a layout team is a plus.
Experience in design for testability and design for manufacturability is a plus.
Experience in digital signal processing techniques is a plus.
Experience in the use of document control systems like Agile is desirable.
Prior experience with audio/video industry specific test instruments such as waveform monitors, vectorscopes and audio performance analyzers is desirable.

New Product Development:
Central to this work is the coordination of the work of software engineers on hardware platforms developed in other offices. Position requires interpretation technical specifications for a product along with a review of existing documentation for related and associated products. Position requires the generation of project planning estimates and time tracking to project completion. The generation of all design and interface documentation as well as extensive product testing is required.
Product Maintenance:

Provide in-office and on-site support of products when issues rise above the level of customer support staff. May be required to interface directly with PESA’s customers and other management or technical staff during product support and maintenance. Some travel may be expected.
