Bekaert has experienced significant growth in China in the recent years, in almost all of its business platforms and in particular in its steel cord products for tire reinforcement. By year end 2007, more than RMB 4.5 billion has been invested in 15 joint ventures or wholly owned companies, including an R&D centre.

In 2008, Bekaert will build up the No.6 plant which produces tire cord in Shuang Qiao, Chongqing.
