Opening position about micro particle movement in indoor environment:

One Research Associate or Research Fellow position is immediately available in
the Department of Building Services Engineering, the Hong Kong Polytechnic Univ
ersity. The successful applicant will join our research team to work in the bro
ad field of micro particle movement in indoor environment, including but not li
mited to (1) survey/investigation in indoor air quality (IAQ) considering parti
culate matter e.g. PM10, PM2.5; (2) numerical modeling of particle movement; (3
) researches on the motion of different particle shapes; (4) disease-laden part
icle transport, such as SARS dispersion in Hong Kong; (5) removal of aerosol pa
rticles, such as the effective air cleaning of kitchen; and (6) leakage between
indoor and outdoor environment. These multi-discipline research areas embrace
the knowledge of multiphase flow, computational fluid dynamics, ventilation, di
sease transportation and environmental science. The Research Associate or Resea
rch Fellow is expected to actively participate in and contribute to the current
projects in the group.

The candidate should hold a doctoral degree and have good knowledge of fluid me
chanics, equipped with numerical modeling or experimental techniques. Candidate
with solid background in mathematics and physics is preferred. The successful
candidate should be capable of quick learning and problem solving, and possess
strong self motivation to be successful. The appointee needs to be industrious,
used to delivery of work to time, and have the potential to work under supervi
sion. The appointment position (research associate or research fellow) and mont
hly salary scale will be based on the candidates qualifications and experience
. The duration of the contract could be up to 12 months with possible extension
depending on research performance.
