Title : HP-UX HW Diagostic & Managibility Development Engineer

Business Environment:

HP has the worlds second largest computer research laboratory. We invent new technologies and innovative information products and sell the products in global market. HP’s Integrity and HP 9000 servers provide industry leading fault management solutions that enable detection, isolation, and timely remedy of hardware failures. This R&D team develops and delivers a robust set of hardware diagnostics, monitors, hardware validation and troubleshooting tools to aid manufacturing, customers and field support personnel in keeping their HP Server up and running and if a hardware fault occurs, fixing it fast. It is critical that the tools themselves be fast, accurate, reliable and easy to use.

These tools cover an increasingly wide array of servers, server components and with Integrity, a wide array of Operating Systems that run on these servers and use the server HW components. It is critical that the customer experience a consistent, unified approach to monitoring, validating, managing and diagnosing hardware. The Distributed Management Task Force (DMTF) has defined a model for component and server information, status and event delivery and our products use and drive this industry standard.

Job Description :

Delivery and document new Industry Standards based software that provides customer access to the HW manageability, Event Information and Diagnostic capabilities which are modeled in DMTF Common Information Model (CIM) format and accessed via DMTF Web Based Enterprise Management protocols.. Explore and develop opportunities, evaluate systems, investigate, develop, define and validate solutions. Youll also interact with customers, internal labs and the standards community to meet the customer requirements for HW Health Management of HP Integrity and HP 9000 servers. Initial Focus is for HP-UX.

Education:

Bachelors (undergraduate), Masters (graduate) or Ph.D. (post-graduate) degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

Experience and knowledge:

Experience includes two or more years of application of software development tools. Knowledge of all phases of product life cycle (definition through production) is necessary. Additionally, experience with system development, developing technologies into a product, and software design is helpful. Expertise in DMTF CIM modeling and WBEM Protocols as well as User Interface Design is preferred.

Must be expert in one or more of the following: application or system level programming, Object Oriented design and development, Agile Lifecycle, HW Instrumentation Design and development (preferably CIM/WBEM, but could be SNMP as well).

Commitment and self-motivation
Fluency in English and local language
