Banpu Public Company Limited Banpu is a leading energy company in Asia. Its core businesses include coal mining and power generation. Thailand Banpu is the single largest private thermal coal supplier in Thailand through its mines in Lampang and Phayao provinces in the north of the country and via imported Indonesian coal. The Company has domestic production capacity of approximately 2 million tonnes per annum of lignite coal. Indonesia In Indonesia, with over ten years of experience, Banpu is now the fourth biggest coal producer with production capacity of around 19 million tonnes per annum of export-grade bituminous and sub-bituminous coal for domestic utilities as well as commercial users in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Philippines, Malaysia, Korea, India, and Europe. Banpu s current operations are all based in Kalimantan, namely Jorong, Indominco, Kitadin, and Trubaindo. Banpu also owns and operates Bontang Coal Terminal. Its coal handling capability will be expanded from 12.5 million tonnes to 18 million tonnes a year by 2008 to accommodate the increasing demands for coal of customers. When completed, its loading rate will be increased and customers could dock up to a 95,000-tonne vessel. By improving its coal terminal, Banpu helps reducing customers freight cost and other operating costs as well as increasing their competitiveness. China Banpu has also entered into China since 2003 by investing in Asian American Coal Inc.(AACI) to operate Daning coal mine in Shanxi province. In 2005, the Company, via Banpu China Pte., Ltd., has entered into an agreement with Coal and Electricity Co., Ltd., to set up a joint venture company Hebi Zhong Tai Mining Co., Ltd., to operate Hebi coal mine in Henan province. ThailandBanpu has invested in a 1,434 megawatts coal-fired IPP called BLCP located in Rayong province and has a 15% stake in a 3,645MW gas-fired power generation in Ratchaburi province. China The Company has acquired 3 combined heat and power operations in Hebei and Shandong provinces in northern China. Ltd (PPIC) which had been in China power business successfully since year1996.
