FUNCTIONAL WORK AREA : Engineering/ Product Development
FUNCTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs R&D in control systems for products and processes for a wide variety of GE businesses in the areas of healthcare, energy, security and transportation;
Take responsibility for concept development, modeling, optimization, simulation, control/instrumentation schemes, and associated software /hardware development;
Determine system requirements, conferring with GE businesses, and direct system development to meet or exceed these requirements;
Work within the Real-time Controls Lab at GE Global Research-Shanghai and collaborate with a diverse team both at GE's other global research centers and business units to grow and lead new research projects;
Form new collaborations with leading laboratories and university research centers;
Present research findings and business impact to management and present research at conferences and publish in leading journals.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
Possess a PhD in an engineering discipline (mechnical, chemical , biological engineering or a related decipline ) with a specialization in control or system engineering;
Demonstrated understanding and practical experience on industrial products and processes;
Knowledge of control systems, signal processing, estimation theory, system identification and optimization are required, as well as simulation and coding skills using MATLAB/Simulink or other similar simulation packages;
Understanding and experience with physics based modeling are a plus;
Demonstrated ability to convert high-level customer needs into a technical development strategy;
Good interpersonal and communication skills. (Must be able to communicate effectively both in written and oral English in a global team.);
Self-motivated and capable of working independently on extended assignments;
Can-do attitude, open, creative & flexible;
Solution oriented & pragmatic;
Innovative nature and willingness to pursue new technical areas.
