We've developed a highly personalised, flexible approach to our programmes, one that emphasises long-term career development. Our goal is to help you advance by providing you with significant responsibility and diverse experiences based on a solid work commitment and high ethical standards. Wherever you see yourself working, all our programmes offer you unrivalled opportunities to develop and perfect your skills and professional expertise.
Level of Entry
Depending on your area of interest, level and stage of study, you can apply for an internship or full-time role with Barclays as an Analyst, Associate or Quantitative Associate. In all cases, we recruit highly intelligent graduates with strong academic credentials and a professional approach who share our commitment to excellence.
Analyst
Analysts fulfil a multitude of functions across the business. To become one, you need to have performed well in your undergraduate degree (and possibly have a Masters). For a full-time role, work experience gained through internships will be an advantage. You should be highly numerate, with strong communication skills. The ability to work well as part of a team is essential and fluency in more than one language is an asset for some roles.
Associate
Associates work across the business and provide a combination of academic and professional expertise. So to join us at this level, we'll expect you to have or be studying towards a Masters in Finance or an MBA at a business school. You'll also need professional work experience, together with evidence of progression, responsibility in terms of project work, teamwork and leadership, international awareness/exposure etc. As an Associate, you'll have the freedom to exercise your business skills and high-level thinking in new and interesting ways.
Quantitative Associate
Our Quantitative Associates perform highly technical roles, working with and developing the mathematical models used in our daily trading and risk management activities. Liaising with traders and other experts, they help ensure that we stay at the cutting edge of our business.

To apply for a Quantitative Associate role, you should be studying for or have completed a PhD or equivalent in a highly technical discipline such as Math, Physics or Engineering. Not sufficiently qualified? You may also be considered if you are studying at a postgraduate level and can demonstrate a sound understanding of at least two of the following disciplines:

Probability and stochastic calculus

Analysis

Numerical methods

Coding

In addition, your study should be primarily research-driven, involving original work, and you must have presented and defended a thesis in front of an advisory panel.

Whichever programme you choose, we are looking for people with strong analytical mindsets and excellent communication skills - just as you'd expect from one of the world's most intrepid and innovative banks.

Internships

An internship is an excellent way to develop an understanding of Barclays and our industry in Asia. The experience provides a valuable mix of training, mentoring and skills and knowledge development, with many interns going on to secure full-time positions on graduation.

There is a range of internships, at both Analyst and Associate level, in which you can make your mark:

Summer Internships

Off-cycle Internships (including Industrial Placements)

Internships are available in a variety of business sectors, ranging from Trading, Structuring, Sales and Investment Banking to Infrastructure areas like Technology, Finance and Operations. Our main locations are Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo, although a few internships are offered in other regional offices including Australia, Mumbai, Seoul, Shanghai and Taipei.

Internships last around ten weeks, usually from May to August, and give penultimate-year students all-around experience of Barclays. The programme seeks to take learning beyond the theoretical to incorporate real situations. Much of the input is provided by our product trainers and you'll also take part in the following:

Firm-wide introduction and business overview

In-depth financial markets and business-specific training

Speaker series

Meet a Director/MD initiative

Networking, social and volunteering events

Buddy programme

Feedback and appraisal process

Summer Internships
Our principal internship opportunity, this programme runs for 10 weeks between May and September, depending on the location. This is predominantly aimed at penultimate-year students.

It begins with a training programme designed to give you a good understanding of the firm and our industry. You'll also be equipped with the skills to succeed and to make the most of the experience.

Interns apply to a specific division. You'll have every opportunity to integrate into the team and work on real projects. There will also be a series of learning events, presentations, meetings with senior managers and various networking opportunities. By the end of the 10 weekprogramme, you'll have a really good idea of whether a graduate career with us is right for you.
Off-cycle internships
We also offer a smaller number of off-cycle internships for students whose degree course requires them to get experience at either a different time of the year or for a longer period of time. Off-cycle internships are usually available for up to six months.

If your off-cycle internship coincides with our principal programme, you'll have the chance to take part in all the training and networking events organised as part of it.

Additionally, we offer internships in Australia, which usually run between November and January.

All applications to Barclays must be submitted online. This allows us to keep track of all applications. You will be asked to fill in a short application form, upload a one-page CV, and successfully complete two online tests depending on your business area.

Most positions in Asia Pacific are in our Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo offices, although we also have positions available in Australia, Beijing, Mumbai, Seoul, Shanghai and Taipei.
What we look for
Our application process isn't intended to catch you out. In fact, the opposite is true. If completed in the correct manner, the steps along the way will help us to know you as an individual and help you to gain a thorough understanding of our working environment. Use every opportunity to make yourself stand out. Putting in the extra effort over your application will ensure that you are thoroughly prepared and researched for the interview or assessment process. Your aim is to stand out from the crowd and this is an easy way to do it.

The guide below aims to help and support you through our application process. We hope you find it useful.

The process you will go through will depend on the business area and location that you are applying to as we adapt our processes to suit businesses and the level of hire.

1. The Initial Application

What makes you stand out?

This is a question you should be asking yourself throughout your initial application. Don't just think about your academic achievements - we want to know about the person behind them. Selection isn't solely based on academic background; do not underestimate the value of extra-curricular activities in distinguishing yourself from the crowd.

What makes you different from your peers?

What do you do apart from studying?

All experience is relevant; it does not have to be investment banking-related.

Research
Spending time researching Barclays will not only benefit you in the application process but will help prepare you for the interview stage. A well-researched application is more evident than you might think and will encourage us to spend more time reviewing it.

Check and re-check your application for typos and grammar

Resist the temptation to copy and paste directly from newspapers and our website - adapt and justify why this information is relevant or of interest to you

Be selective on the research you include and ensure it is in depth and up to date

Qualify your statements
"I'm a hard-working, self-motivated team player with a real interest in investment banking". Maybe, but you need to substantiate this. Which teams have you participated in? What have you done to demonstrate you are hard-working? Think about the competencies we might look for in a specific role. How can you demonstrate these attributes through your own life achievements? Ensure each of your experiences tells us something useful and avoid uncorroborated phrases about you or your personality.

Avoid clich s

You have limited space - ensure you give focus and relevant examples based on your experience

Think of illustrations where you have shown good judgment, innovation, teamwork, commitment and pro-activity.

Testing
For Analyst and Quantitative Associate applications, depending on the business area that you are applying to, you are required to complete online testing in order to proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process. You may then be re-tested at an assessment centre. Again, putting some time aside to practise and prepare will increase your understanding of the testing process, helping you to succeed.

Practice tests are available online. (ww***com[点击查看] and ww***.uk[点击查看] provide some and your university careers service may be able to give you access to others - or simply use an internet search engine which will bring up a range of options.) This testing is similar to the GMAT style of testing and practice books are available in most bookshops or through careers services.

Testing is available in the majority of languages and you should take the test in the one in which you feel most comfortable.

Ensure you are somewhere quiet and not going to be interrupted for the duration of the test - the test cannot be re-started

Speed and accuracy are both as important in order to produce the optimal results of the test.

Ensure that if you experience any technical issues with the test that you contact the technical support team and speak with a member of the campus recruitment team as soon as possible, and that you take both tests within the given timeframe.
