Perhaps you're unsure exactly which one is right for you? That's fine. Take time to read through this website and gain a better understanding of exactly what a career with us entails.

Life at Barclays is never dull. We believe that every day is a challenge and we provide great opportunities to people who want to make an impact. I've undertaken four types of move in the course of seven years working here. My last one was from London to Singapore. Each transition has been challenging, but exciting too. One of the great benefits has been meeting different stakeholders in different regions. The whole experience for me has been very rewarding. But don't just wait for opportunity to come to you. Go out and find it.

There are many career options out there and it's very important for you to make the right decision. I believe the information here will help you to explore what makes a career with Barclays so special. I wish you all the best and look forward to interacting with you in the future. Good luck!

- Julie Evans, Director, Head of Singapore Technology
Programmes & Opportunities
We've developed a highly personalised, flexible approach to our programmes, one that emphasises long-term career development. Our goal is to help you advance by providing you with significant responsibility and diverse experiences based on a solid work commitment and high ethical standards. Wherever you see yourself working, all our programmes offer you unrivalled opportunities to develop and perfect your skills and professional expertise.
Level of Entry
Depending on your area of interest, level and stage of study, you can apply for an internship or full-time role with Barclays as an Analyst, Associate or Quantitative Associate. In all cases, we recruit highly intelligent graduates with strong academic credentials and a professional approach who share our commitment to excellence.
Analyst
Analysts fulfil a multitude of functions across the business. To become one, you need to have performed well in your undergraduate degree (and possibly have a Masters). For a full-time role, work experience gained through internships will be an advantage. You should be highly numerate, with strong communication skills. The ability to work well as part of a team is essential and fluency in more than one language is an asset for some roles.
Associate
Associates work across the business and provide a combination of academic and professional expertise. So to join us at this level, we'll expect you to have or be studying towards a Masters in Finance or an MBA at a business school. You'll also need professional work experience, together with evidence of progression, responsibility in terms of project work, teamwork and leadership, international awareness/exposure etc. As an Associate, you'll have the freedom to exercise your business skills and high-level thinking in new and interesting ways.
Quantitative Associate
Our Quantitative Associates perform highly technical roles, working with and developing the mathematical models used in our daily trading and risk management activities. Liaising with traders and other experts, they help ensure that we stay at the cutting edge of our business.

To apply for a Quantitative Associate role, you should be studying for or have completed a PhD or equivalent in a highly technical discipline such as Math, Physics or Engineering. Not sufficiently qualified? You may also be considered if you are studying at a postgraduate level and can demonstrate a sound understanding of at least two of the following disciplines:

Probability and stochastic calculus

Analysis

Numerical methods

Coding

In addition, your study should be primarily research-driven, involving original work, and you must have presented and defended a thesis in front of an advisory panel.

Whichever programme you choose, we are looking for people with strong analytical mindsets and excellent communication skills - just as you'd expect from one of the world's most intrepid and innovative banks.

Each division has a programme team dedicated to training and developing each campus hire. The programmes comprise the following:

Initial Training Programme (ITP)

Mentoring

Initial Training Programme
Our Initial Training Programmes (ITPs) are unique to each business. You'll complete your ITP, and all related exams, with peers from your respective division.
Lasting five to seven weeks, these training sessions offer a foundation in business fundamentals, intensive technical and product skills, professional development and role-specific skills. Courses are taught by both Barclays experts and third-party consultants, and you'll also attend social and networking events with senior managers and colleagues across the firm.
Held at our London or New York office, our ITPs include the following components:

Firm-wide induction and business overview

Technical and product skills (including pre-work assignments)

Financial Regulatory Certification

Professional development

Networking and philanthropy events

Continuous Professional Education
The Continuous Professional Education (CPE) course is additional practical and classroom training that will usually take place a few months after you join. The aim is to further develop your broad knowledge of the bank and specific technical and business expertise. Senior management will be on hand to offer support and give the benefit of their experience.
Objectives of CPE

To build a broad understanding of the organisation, its businesses, products and clients

To continue to educate Analysts on targeted technical and interpersonal skills relevant to their career success

To provide continuing networking opportunities with peers in the Analyst class across the business.

Mentoring
Along with the formal training and 'on-the-desk' learning, we allocate you a mentor from a range of senior managers. It's a highly effective way of providing you with access to the experience, expertise and advice of our existing employees.
Other ProgrammesInsight Days
These are open to first-year undergraduates (or second-year undergraduates studying a four-year course). Spending a day with us, you'll gain an invaluable insight into investment banking and the variety of roles at Barclays through work shadowing, presentations and interactive activities. You'll also have the chance to network with a range of employees, from new graduates to senior members of the business.
Training and Development
Continual career progression and growth are achieved through ongoing performance feedback and training, networking programmes and mobility opportunities. Let's look at those in more detail:
Ongoing Performance Feedback and Training
We believe that the best way to improve performance continually is through feedback and coaching - from the people you work with most closely.

Our performance review process and tools are designed to help you manage your career and meet your career aspirations. They provide a framework within which you can discuss all aspects of your performance openly and honestly, as well as understand how you're doing compared with expectations.

We'll also provide you with a wide range of training opportunities, both classroom and online.

L@B (Learning At Barclays) is a web-based Learning Management System for scheduling, launching and managing all instructor-led and online training offered to Barclays employees. Employees can launch and manage courses that are pre-selected by Human Resources, Compliance or your Business Area via "Your assigned training".
Networking Programmes and Mobility
As we place so much value on individual initiative at Barclay's Capital, we give our employees every opportunity to flourish and prosper within the firm. Our policy of encouraging people to seek career growth and challenges internally has been designed to support, promote and proactively manage internal mobility, while maintaining transparency.

To help build a culture of inclusion, as well as attract, retain and develop a diverse workforce, we've formed five Employee Network Groups. They are open to all employees who wish to participate in the firm's diversity efforts and are recognised by the firm for their support in accomplishing our goals of increasing our diversity representation and creating a culture of inclusion. These forums support business and diversity goals through their focus on raising awareness, providing networking and professional development opportunities to their membership, and partnering with external organisations on community outreach initiatives. Networks are sponsored by senior managers across the business.

All applications to Barclays must be submitted online. This allows us to keep track of all applications. You will be asked to fill in a short application form, upload a one-page CV, and successfully complete two online tests depending on your business area.

Most positions in Asia Pacific are in our Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo offices, although we also have positions available in Australia, Beijing, Mumbai, Seoul, Shanghai and Taipei.
What we look for
Our application process isn't intended to catch you out. In fact, the opposite is true. If completed in the correct manner, the steps along the way will help us to know you as an individual and help you to gain a thorough understanding of our working environment. Use every opportunity to make yourself stand out. Putting in the extra effort over your application will ensure that you are thoroughly prepared and researched for the interview or assessment process. Your aim is to stand out from the crowd and this is an easy way to do it.

The guide below aims to help and support you through our application process. We hope you find it useful.

The process you will go through will depend on the business area and location that you are applying to as we adapt our processes to suit businesses and the level of hire.

1. The Initial Application

What makes you stand out?

This is a question you should be asking yourself throughout your initial application. Don't just think about your academic achievements - we want to know about the person behind them. Selection isn't solely based on academic background; do not underestimate the value of extra-curricular activities in distinguishing yourself from the crowd.

What makes you different from your peers?

What do you do apart from studying?

All experience is relevant; it does not have to be investment banking-related.

Research
Spending time researching Barclays will not only benefit you in the application process but will help prepare you for the interview stage. A well-researched application is more evident than you might think and will encourage us to spend more time reviewing it.

Check and re-check your application for typos and grammar

Resist the temptation to copy and paste directly from newspapers and our website - adapt and justify why this information is relevant or of interest to you

Be selective on the research you include and ensure it is in depth and up to date

Qualify your statements
"I'm a hard-working, self-motivated team player with a real interest in investment banking". Maybe, but you need to substantiate this. Which teams have you participated in? What have you done to demonstrate you are hard-working? Think about the competencies we might look for in a specific role. How can you demonstrate these attributes through your own life achievements? Ensure each of your experiences tells us something useful and avoid uncorroborated phrases about you or your personality.

Avoid clich s

You have limited space - ensure you give focus and relevant examples based on your experience

Think of illustrations where you have shown good judgment, innovation, teamwork, commitment and pro-activity.

Testing
For Analyst and Quantitative Associate applications, depending on the business area that you are applying to, you are required to complete online testing in order to proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process. You may then be re-tested at an assessment centre. Again, putting some time aside to practise and prepare will increase your understanding of the testing process, helping you to succeed.

Practice tests are available online. (ww***com[点击查看] and ww***.uk[点击查看] provide some and your university careers service may be able to give you access to others - or simply use an internet search engine which will bring up a range of options.) This testing is similar to the GMAT style of testing and practice books are available in most bookshops or through careers services.

Testing is available in the majority of languages and you should take the test in the one in which you feel most comfortable.

Ensure you are somewhere quiet and not going to be interrupted for the duration of the test - the test cannot be re-started

Speed and accuracy are both as important in order to produce the optimal results of the test.

Ensure that if you experience any technical issues with the test that you contact the technical support team and speak with a member of the campus recruitment team as soon as possible, and that you take both tests within the given timeframe.
