Market Researcher

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1) Providing required information related to Chinese steel industry, and trading needs of SteelOrbis members as defined by SteelOrbis management on a timely basis. Currently these requirements could be listed as follows:

i) Daily price reports on all required products with following duties:

a. Collect the major market prices and market dynamics of the specific products

b. Collect the import and export prices of the specific products

c. Collect the ex-factory prices and information of the specific products producers

d. Collect the industrial information of the specific products

e. Collect the information about the upstream and downstream industries

ii) Weekly market analysis on product group/products which will cover supply/demand balance, expectations of market players, governmental policy changes, trade law changes, impacts of economical and financial developments in China and Asia, production data and news

iii) Daily factors to watch which will or is expected to have a direct or indirect impact on the market

iv) Import and export statistics

2) Increasing SteelOrbis member/subscriber base in China with responsibility of sales in China and neighboring countries (Korea, T, Thailand, etc) and promoting e-commerce within SteelOrbis member base in China

3) Creating customer database in China

4) Selling advertisement on SteelOrbis website to potential SteelOrbis customers

5) Supporting other team members in consulting project

6) Promoting SteelOrbis conferences to potential SteelOrbis customers

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

At least 1-2 years of relevant experience.

Good command of written and spoken English

Good writing skills

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS

- Excellent contacts within the relevant industry in China. Those who also know the neighboring countries like Korea, Japan and Taiwan are preferred

- Excellent knowledge of the market structure and dynamics in China and knowledge of international business and international trading is preferred

- Product knowledge

o Currently covered products are as follows (all are carbon steel):

 ferrous scrap,

 steel making basic pig iron,

 iron ore,

 Ferro alloys

 Metallurgical coke,

 billets,

 slabs,

 reinforcing bars,

 wire rods,

 profiles,

 tubes and pipes,

 hot rolled steel sheet in coils,

 cold rolled steel sheet in coils,

 plates,

 galvanized steel sheets and coils

- Producer/Trader/Distributor/end-user knowledge in China

- Customer profile: Thorough knowledge of customer, characteristics, past history etc

- Selling, negotiation and communication skills
