Centrifugal and Screw Compressor Engineer

Job Responsibilities

Carrier s Compression Technology team has a requirement for several Compressor Engineers to support our advanced centrifugal and screw compressor development programs.

Duties involve applying state of the art CFD and FEA techniques for efficient and robust designs. Knowledge of Aero-Thermodynamic and Structural analysis for physics based modeling is highly desirable. Basic understanding of statistical analysis techniques such as DOE and probabilistic design simulation methods is essential. Candidates should gain expert knowledge in one or more key disciplines.

These positions are being targeted to be located in Shanghai, Carrier China Research & Design Center.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

1. Analysis of thermodynamic cycles using different refrigerants for best compressor performance.

2. Alternatively: aerodynamic design and analysis of compressor components using 1-D and CFD methods, or mechanical design and structural analysis of compressors using FEA tools.

3. Interface with test labs for validating compressor designs and developing compressor performance ratings. Documentation of procedures and results is a key requirement.

4. Active participation in engineering, marketing and manufacturing quality team meetings. Teams are located in globally and some of the meetings are conducted after regular working hours.

Education

Minimally Master degree, preferably PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.

Experience/Qualifications

1. Staff Compressor Engineers (quantity: 1 ): Candidates should have 10 years experience in the design and development of Screw compressors, with a minimum of 5 years of focused effort within area of technology specialization. Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-cultural global organization are essential.

2. Centrifugal or Screw Compressor Engineers (quantity: centrifugal 2 , screw 2 ): Candidates should have 3 years experience in the design and development of Centrifugal or Screw compressors or related Turbomachinary and customer development of durable goods products. . Effective communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-cultural global organization are essential.

3. Excellent recent graduates from MS/PhD education are also welcomed (quantity: 2 ).
