Elekta is developing world leading products and technology solutions for minimally invasive neurosurgery. At Elekta you will work in the Research and Development software development group responsible for products within neurosurgery.

Your job will be to design and implement interactive software for radiotherapy planning of neurosurgical treatments in the brain. This planning software product is included in the Leksell GammaKnife product family which is used for radiation treatment of cancer and other diseases in the brain.

We work in a Linux development environment with tools such as C , Python, PostgreSQL and Qt. You should be degree qualified in software or a related engineering discipline, and be familiar with modern methods of software development. You have a strong motivation to work on medical technology, and appreciate the importance of quality in all phases of the product development process. Some examples of experiences and skills we appreciate are object-oriented analysis and design in C , relational data bases, visualization, XML, medical imaging, graphical user interfaces, mathematical modeling and safety critical systems.

Job description & Responsibilities:
To participate in all activities of a software R&D project, with emphasis on requirement specification, design, implementation, testing and documentation, whilst following company standards by:
- Develop prototypes
- Develop specifications
- Develop low level designs of the software
- Maintaining and refactoring of legacy code base
- Writes and maintain low level design document
- Implement unit test
- Review product deliverables(code and software related documents) continuously
- Resolves problem reports
- Participate in conference call with the team in Sweden
- Work closely with the team in Sweden using e-mail and conference call
- To perform evaluations of technologies, methodologies and product
- Awareness of best practice within software engineering
- To follow the technical and clinical evolution within the field
- Collect, build and maintain current working knowledge of the technical and quality
requirements for company products

Required Knowledge, skills and competencies:
- Major in Engineering and Computer Science or equivalent. A Master degree is encouraged.
- Good command of English in speech and writing
- Experience in Software Engineering, especially C development using Object-Oriented Design methodology.

- Experience in developing on UNIX/Linux platform

- Experience in Python, Qt and PostgreSQL will be encouraged.
