Mission PlaNet Finance China (PFC) is the representative office in Beijing of the international NGO, PlaNet Finance. PFC is dedicated to poverty alleviation through the development of the Chinese microfinance industry. We provide technical assistance and consulting services to the microfinance and banking sector and engage in “Microfinance Plus” projects with a focus on issues such as rural development, healthcare, renewable energy and job training. Contract Intern
Profile/Skills The intern should be highly responsible, motivated, and confident in his/her abilities. The intern should take initiatives to learn more about microfinance and our work here in China Fluent English; at least advanced Chinese Mandarin language skills (including reading and writing) Long-term commitment to poverty alleviation and China’s development Ability to work full-time and sign a contract for at least 6 months, with a 2 month trial period Excellent organizational, communication, writing and research skills Ability to multi-task and lead projects Relevant work experience preferred, with references Proficient in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel Modest stipend available
Responsibilities The work of the intern will vary depending on the work needed and skills/interests of the intern. The intern will be mainly working with the Director of Finance and Administration. Potential projects include: Creating research reports on China’s economy, financial news and trends in microfinance Translating news articles, reports, and other materials Assisting the Communications Officer with office communication strategies, such as writing and editing the bi-annual newsletter and maintaining the PFC website Assisting in financial/project reporting and accounting responsibilities Organizing conferences and events in Beijing and throughout China, including coordinating between various parties and handling logistical details Coordinating with microfinance institutions in rural China to further develop the PFC field internship program Helping to create a database of potential donors and monitoring our ongoing contact with these companies Performing financial analyses of China’s microfinance organizations’ financial statements Assisting with fundraising activities and creating promotional materials
