Performs part of a key activity using fairly routine activities within a specified work program varying the approach taken as the precise nature of the work output varies ? Working independently carry out work to required standards to a plan agreed with supervisor and using known and novel procedures ? Apply knowledge and experience to recognize problems and work with supervisor in finding solutions; advise supervisor of any backlogs and on likely timescales ? Using basic, established, local methods and techniques, find information for advising or discussing with supervisor ? Provide advice/guidance on practical or technical issues to less experienced staff ? Report to manager on progress and completion of an activity on an agreed (possibly daily) basis ? Settle straightforward /minor problems or complaints within agreed limits ? Review the priorities of outstanding tasks for self and others and amend as necessary. ? Exchange information with internal and external contacts and be able to judge when to pass on to others ? Maintain accurate experimental records according to company policy with outstanding attention to detail ? Perform all activities in accordance with all applicable Syngenta and Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies Qualification and Experience: ? MSc / BS / PhD plus 1-3 years hands-on experience in similar role or a recognised relevant qualification (e.g. Degree, NVQ, HND etc) ? Authoritative knowledge of the work practices, procedures and equipment relevant to the role which may include some formal qualification, broader industry awareness and considerable practical experience ? Requires in-depth knowledge/ experience to respond to non-routine situations and to choose the best solution or approach from a range of options, with the ability to consider the short term implications of each ? Excellent analytical and communication skills in interpreting and presenting study results ? Proficiency in use of standard software (e.g., Excel and PowerPoint); familiarity with databases and DNA manipulation software a plus ?
