Postdoctoral Researcher in the Dynamics and Vibration Lab 1-2 1. Conduct analytical and computational research on the vibration and dynamics of mechanical systems. 2. The work uses mathematical models and computational tools to investigate the following problems: 1) nonlinear vibration of gears, 2) vibration absorbers in automotive transmissions, 3) dynamic modeling and analysis of unmanned helicopters. 3. The work deals with linear and nonlinear models as well as continuous (partial differential equations) and discrete (ordinary differential equations) systems. Candidates are expected to conduct independent research on these topics and help guide PhD students working in the lab. 4. In cooperation with Prof. Parker, candidates are expected to publish their work in strong English-language journals. Prof. Parker will assist in refining manuscripts so they will be accepted by leading journals. 1. PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanics. 2. Ability to conduct independent research. 3. At least three years of research experience in optical metrology and/or machine vision 3. Strong experimental skills with experience working with lasers and/or cameras 4. Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Wireless Communications and Networking 1-2 1. Preparing research proposals and delivering research projects 2. Publishing research papers in top journals and conferences 3. Assisting the supervisor in lab management The candidates are expected to have strong research background in two or three of the following sub-areas: 1. Wireless Communication/ Networking Protocols: Wireless networking protocols and communication technologies for Wi-Fi, WiMAX, LTE, LTE-advanced, wireless mesh networks, wireless sensor networks, mobile ad hoc networks, cognitive radio networks, vehicular networks, gigabit-wireless networks, etc.; RF propagation and wireless channel modeling. 2. Communication and Networking Theory: Information theory and network coding, network capacity theory and analysis, optimization theory and cross-layer design 3. Performance Evaluation of Networking Protocols: Performance analysis based on queueing theory and stochastic processes, network simulations based on simulation tools such as Qualnet, OPNET, NS2/3, etc. 4.
