Organization Overview

Molecular Diversity Preservation International (MDPI, established 1996) is an international organization headquartered in Basel, Switzerland. MDPI’s aim is to preserve the molecular diversity through collection of rare chemical samples (compounds). The project has been financed through selling small portions of the collection.

Besides, MDPI has developed into scientific open access publishing, which became the major activity since 2006. MDPI publishes several peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journals, including Molecules (ISSN 1420-3049) and IJMS (ISSN 1422-0067), which were among the first online, open-access journals in chemistry. Several Nobel laureates support us by staying on the Editorial Boards of the MDPI journals.
MDPI runs an editorial office in Basel, Switzerland and in Beijing (Tongzhou District), P. R. China. We work in a team-oriented environment, and esteem innovation and entrepreneurship.

To enforce our staff in the Beijing office, we are currently seeking for a suitable candidate as:
Software Engineer (100%)

Job Summary

The overall responsibility of this position, which will be located in Tongzhou District, Beijing, is mainly to develop software applications for the Internet platforms of MDPI. Additionally, the candidate would maintain the IT Infrastructure in the office (8-10 working places) and give support to other staff members from time to time.

Skills Requirements, Experience and Abilities

• Graduated in Information Technology (IT) or Computer Science (preferably M.Sc.)
• 2-3 years working experience
• Knowledge of PHP and AJAX (Javascript)
• Knowledge of SQL (preferably MySQL or PostgreSQL)
• Knowledge of Linux OS administration and Apache webserver
• Knowledge of LaTeX or TeX is a big plus
• Ability to work independently and to communicate with, and respond to customers and other employees in a professional, clear, and understandable manner
