ATC Studios is a centralized design team that supports a wide range of projects within Microsoft’s Advanced Technology Center (ATC), from cutting-edge incubation work to the latest versions of established Microsoft products to genre-defying products for the China market.

ATC Studios is seeking innovative and talented user experience (UX) Prototyper for a diverse portfolio of projects, including Microsoft Surface, mobile phone and other personal communication devices, emerging markets, education projects, games, incubation and online services.

Can you program fast? Can you program user interfaces and are you experienced with 2D and/or 3D graphics? Are you skilled in general purpose languages such as C# and C++ as well as scripting languages such as Ruby and Python? When asked to program something you know absolutely nothing about, is your first thought “how hard could it be?” Do you participate in coding challenges and the demo scene in your spare time to overcome boredom at school or work?

If so, we have a rare opportunity for you. The ATC Studios in Microsoft China is looking to add a fantastic rapid prototyper to our interaction design team. You will work on a multidisciplinary team of artists, designers, programmers, and marketers to quickly try out new product ideas. For this role, it is all about how fast you can get a working prototype in front of potential users. Actual projects may change on a monthly or daily basis, so a nimble mind as well as a can-do attitude is important.

Responsibilities:
• Create UI prototypes based on interaction design, including UI wireframes, UI diagrams, and so on.
• Make prototypes or mockups that are used in the user studies and usability tests.

Requirements:
• Bachelors in computer science (or equivalent experience).
• At least two years programming experience.
• Excellent team work.
• Self-directed learning.
• Skilled in one or more general purpose languages such as C#, Java and C++.
• Skilled in one or more scripting languages such as Python, Perl or Ruby.
• Experienced with widget-based, 2D and 3D toolkits such as WPF, Swing, Eclipse (SWT), DirectX, Java2D, Flash and OpenGL.
• Fluent in either English or Mandarin.

Bonuses:
• Familiarity with the design process and popular design tools such as Visio, Photoshop and PowerPoint.
• Fluency in both English and Mandarin.
• Prior experience in game development or animation.
• Experience in natural language processing, constraint programming, or compiler implementation.
