1. Engineer, SW Development

Job Description:
We are looking for motivated software development engineers for Browsing product
development. Your responsibilities will cover module design, implementation and
unit and functional test as well as test automation activities. You co-operate
closely with verification team to ensure software quality and to make the produc
t development work more effective. You will work in projects as part of Chengdu
R&D team using modern agile and iterative software development processes.

Requirements:
• Knowledge of Linux or other UNIX-like operating system
• Knowledge of J2EE, C++ or Java programming languages
• Object oriented programming (Java) skills
• Knowledge of database
• Knowledge of GPRS network
• Knowledge of version control tools, such as ClearCase
• Knowledge of network protocols, such as TCP/IP, HTTP, and WAP is a plus

2. Engineer, System Integration and Verification

Job Description:
We are looking for motivated system integration and verification Engineers for B
rowsing product development. Your responsibilities will cover test planning and
test case design, integration and system (performance, capacity, stability and c
ompatibility) testing, regression and sanity check, and test automation. You wil
l work in projects as part of Chengdu R&D team using modern agile and iterative
software development processes.

Requirements:
• Network operation and maintenance skills
• Knowledge of Linux or other UNIX-like operating system
• Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols
• Knowledge of GPRS network
• Knowledge of J2EE is a plus

3. (Senior) Engineer, Integration and Verification

Job Description:
We are looking for (Senior) Integration and Verification Engineers to join our d
evelopment team. Our team’s mission is to make easily useable NetAct Network Ma
nagement System to fulfill operators need to efficiently run the daily operation
s and management in telecom networks.

You will work in projects as a part R&D team using modern agile and iterative so
ftware development processes. Your responsibilities cover test planning, test au
tomation development, integration, testing and verification of our network manag
ement system. Also, support for system testing may be required from time to time
. Sometimes you need to use your expertise in your area in investigating and ans
wering customer care questions.

Requirements:
• Have a technical background, get the "big picture" of things quite fast
and understand also the surroundings of your own area.
• Have good understanding of SW development processes and see the importan
ce of testing in the process.
• Previous experience in testing and verification work is definitely prefe
rred.
• Basic script language (e.g. Perl), Java and C++ skills are appreciated.

• In addition to this, you should also have experience with UNIX and/or Li
nux OS.

4. Engineer, Tool Development

Job Description:
We are looking for motivated tools and test automation development engineers in
the system verification area of SMSC/MMSC/Browsing product development. Your res
ponsibilities will cover efficient and effective verification of the compliance
of the products with customer requirements and system requirements, and the rele
ase quality criteria.

You will work in projects as part of Chengdu R&D team using modern agile and ite
rative software development processes.

Requirements:
• Knowledge of Linux or other UNIX-like operating system
• Object oriented programming (C++, Java) skills
• Script programming skill including shell script, Perl, Python
• Knowledge of database
• Knowledge of GSM/GRRS network
• Knowledge of version control tools, such as ClearCase and SVN.

5. (Senior) Engineer, Adaptations

Job Description:
The challenges you will face include developing and maintaining Performance Mana
gement (PM) Adaptation (or Fault Management Adaptation) software for NetAct Netw
ork Management System, to enable a network elements PM/FM data availability for
reporting. On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for specifying, plann
ing, reporting, designing, implementing and testing within your project area.
In case of a senior position, you will also coach your colleagues in how best to
solve engineering problems. What’s more, you will have the chance to participa
te in reviews of our own or neighboring projects, as well as undertake technical
training responsibilities.

Requirements:
• Relevant work experience on software development
• Especially interested in verification & integration type of tasks
• Be familiar with the UNIX/Linux operating system

6. (Senior) Engineer, Technical Support

Job Description:
We are looking to recruit motivated professionals for both Senior Technical Supp
ort Engineer and Technical Support Engineer positions to support our Network Man
agement product NetAct.
Your tasks will be technical tasks requiring specialist skills in own profession
al area. You need to be able to work independently with the responsibility for s
olving customer request cases and reporting according to processes. We are worki
ng with close co-operation with our R&D organization and other global sites so a
ctive information sharing is needed all the time.
On your daily work you will need skills at administration and troubleshooting di
fferent operation platforms and databases. Understanding of current telecom netw
orks, network management and operator processes is advantage in your daily work.

Requirements:
• This academic background is combined with years of relevant experience b
een spent working on technical support or as administrator at telecom operator c
enter.
• You should be familiar with the UNIX/Linux operating system and Oracle d
atabases.
• Knowledge of telecom (e.g. GSM/EDGE & WCDMA) and IP systems and XML will
be seen as major plus.

7. Engineer, Laboratory

Job Description:
We are looking for a Laboratory Engineer to join our R&D team in Chengdu, China.
You are responsible for developing and maintaining a laboratory environment for
Nokia Networks products. Your main task will be to set up a testing laboratory
and maintain a verification environment for testing of different products and pl
atforms R&D programs. This involves hardware and software installations, testing
support and looking after the IP networks, including routers and switches.
The work is organized in project teams, which have a close co-operation. This in
cludes teams located on other Nokia sites, and this adds the international natur
e to the position. Fluent international communication is needed; therefore good
language skills are very important.

Requirements:
• You should be familiar with the UNIX/Linux operating system and Oracle d
atabases.
• Knowledge of IBM blade.
• Knowledge of IP protocols and IP networking

Job Description:
The Chengdu product development teams are using Agile methods in their R&D work.
SCM plays a very important role in Agile, enabling the efficient SW change mana
gement and frequent SW builds (both scheduled and on-demand). Effective software
configuration management improves development productivity and promotes a healt
hy, team-oriented culture that produces better software.

We are looking for an engineer for SCM (Software Configuration Management) to jo
in our R&D team. You are responsible for developing and maintaining the software
development environment based on Clearcase, CVS and other SW management tools f
or our products. Your main tasks include setting up software development environ
ments, SCM configuration, SCM planning, makefile maintenance and SCM training.
The work is organized in project teams, which have a close co-operation. This in
cludes teams located on other Nokia sites, and this adds the international natur
e to the position. Fluent international communication is needed; therefore good
language skills are mandatory.

Job Description:

• More than 5 years of commercial software development experience and expe
rience in telecommunications domain at least 1-2 years as architect

15. Technical Writer

Job Description:
Write/edit, review, test and deliver technical customer documentation for the pr
ojects of Service Core Application, including: technical notes, operation manual
s, maintenance manuals, feature description ,User Manuals, Installation Manuals,
OGL, Maintenance Manuals, Product Introduction and on-line help.

Requirements:
• General knowledge in telecommunication and computer science. Fresh gradu
ates from the university could be considered.
• 2-3 years of experience in Technical writing, preferred.
• Service Core Application knowledge is a plus.
• Excellent English- language skills, especially in written English.
• A university degree in Engineering, IT or English, preferably from a uni
versity in an English-speaking country.
• Experience in using graphics and different desktop publishing software,
preferably with XML/SGML and Adobe graphic tools.
• Experiences in system test are preferable
