Title: Linux Systems Programmer

The successful candidates will play an important role in the Kernel level, file system for implementation of features for management, scalability, performance and new applications. All CFS staff are involved in development troubleshooting and testing.

Requirements are:

1. Experience with Linux kernel configuration and patching
2. Experience with major storage subsystems, FC drivers, LVM, snapshots
3. UNIX/Linux C-Programming experience
4. UNIX/Linux Shell scripting experience

Desirable experience:

1. Linux Kernel programming and debugging
2. Experience with cluster software such as MPI
3. Python programming experience

Title: Systems Software Engineer, pCIFS Testing – Beijing, China office
Skills: pCIFS testing, UNIX, Linux, Filesystems
Location: Beijing, China

What does the Job Require?:
You have extensive knowledge of Windows, Samba, and CIFS in general and a tenacity to stress and break software before the customer does. You will be the focal point of quality assurance efforts of the Windows pCIFS client for the Lustre parallel clustered filesystem. Working from our office in Beijing, you will collaborate closely with our global team of file system experts.

Summary of job responsibilities:
Develop and execute test plans and other documentation for functional and regression testing
Perform feature testing, functional testing, unit testing, regression, load and performance testing
Work with development and project management to determine test requirements and strategy, and report defects and testing status
Review requirements, code, design and other documentation for issues and size, and plan testing activities accordingly
Install, configure, and maintain Windows test systems
Summary of job requirements:
2-4+ years as a QA engineer
Experience with High and Low level Test plans
Proficient with general Windows system administration, including networking and filesystems
Experience with Linux, especially configuring Samba for use in production environments
Programming experience with shell, Perl, and Python
Knowledge of standard Unix development tools, including cvs, diff, patch, quilt

What does the Job Require?:
You are a highly skilled senior engineer with substantial filesystem and Unix/Linux kernel experience. Working with an ultra-modern company, built around Open source software development practices, you will push the limits of distributed parallel filesystems on the biggest supercomputers in the world. Working from our office in Beijing, you will collaborate closely with our global team of file system experts.

Summary of job responsibilities:
Determining root cause of software defects in collaboration with support engineers and customers
High level and detailed design of new file system features and defect resolution approaches
Implementation of major and minor file system features, bug fixes, and associated unit tests
Design and code inspections of your peers
Participation in test plan development with QA
Summary of job requirements:
5+ years of Linux kernel programming experience
Detailed understanding of file systems
TCP/IP networking; experience with high performance networks like Elan and InfiniBand is also desirable
Experience working with remote teams and/or customers in a small, fast-paced environment
Technical experience with distributed, parallel file systems and with SEI Personal software Process (PSP0 and Team Software Process (TSP) also desirable.

What does the Job Require?:
You closely monitor development activities of the Linux kernel community and port the Lustre kernel patch series to emerging new kernels within a day of release. You meticulously inspect high risk patches to ensure there are no regressions and conduct extensive quality assurance testing. While you are able to fix many problems yourself, you will also escalate more complex issues to senior engineers and coordinate updates. Ultimately, you will keep Lustre on the leading-edge of Linux kernel development. Working from our office in Beijing, you will collaborate closely with our global team of file system experts.

Porting Lustre kernel patches to new kernels
