ESSENTIAL FUNCTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:GE Water and Process Technologies (GEWPT) is a
1.4 billion US$ division of GE, and one of GEs growth businesses that will drive organic growth. GE WPT develops chemicals, membranes, and novel service strategies that answer increasing concern about the quality of water systems, and associated health risks. GE Water and Process Technologies has groups working on Microbiological Control, Microbiological Disinfection, Membranes, Oil and Water Detoxification as well as core chemical additives to optimize biological control industrial water systems. -Detection Group is currently looking for Molecular Biologists, Microbiologists and Biochemists to join its growing team at the GE China Technology Center in Shanghai.The candidates primary responsibility is to propose and conduct research on novel systems that can be field deployed in the diverse industries GEWT serves.These duties will include creating prototypes and parenting the device to full product status.The candidate is also expected to prepare patent disclosures and to represent GEWT at national and international scientific meetings.They may also publish in national and international journals when appropriate.QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
-PhD or MSc in Microbiology
-Experience in bacterial cell cultures, plating and media preparation.
-Experience with culture identification, microscope observation and serotyping
-Proven track record of timely, new product development
-Ability to plan, lead and execute boundless projects with collaborators in other businesses and with select external partners
-Experience establishing and maintaining project designs and timelines
-Experience with water micro
-biology is desirable
-Strong laboratory capabilities coupled with the ability to apply diverse techniques from different scientific disciplines
