About Philips Research East Asia (PREA)
Philips Research East Asia (PREA) has been established in Shanghai since the y
ear 2000. Our focus is on market-driven innovation, aimed to generate new busi
ness for Philips and to support existing business. Working with industrial and
academic partners, we speed up innovation and help create technologies that r
eally matter and get adopted. We call this Open Innovation. We are an integral
part of Philips’ international research program and have extensive collabora
tions with the Philips labs across the world. PREA currently employs 80 resear
chers working in the fields of Healthcare, Lighting, Optical Storage, Digital
Television and Wireless Communications.

About the Healthcare department.
The department addresses a broad range of applications and technologies in the
healthcare arena, for both professional healthcare markets (e.g. hospitals) a
s well as personal healthcare markets (healthcare devices for consumers). Our
research is in such fields as chronic diseases, elderly care, molecular medici
ne.

Job Description Computer Scientist

Senior scientist Computer Science for Healthcare
Apply your detailed knowledge of Computer Science to research and develop new
healthcare solutions covering both professional products for hospitals and hom
e healthcare devices. The focus is on using advanced Computer Science techniqu
es to create new healthcare solutions that directly benefit patients and docto
rs. Our aim is not just to apply information technology in the medical world b
ut to use advanced Computer Science techniques to make intelligent systems tha
t provide new functions not currently available. The candidate must be able to
work in a multidisciplinary team (including medical doctors, biomedical engin
eers and electronic engineers) and take the lead in showing how Computer Scien
ce techniques can increase the value of the overall solution. Take a leading r
ole in prototyping of complete solutions to demonstrate the value of the syste
m to patients and doctors. Interface with colleagues from marketing to ensure
that the solutions defined are aligned with market requirements.

Requirements
Excellent research experience in the field of Computer Science, as demonstrate
d by having obtained a PhD degree.
The PhD degree should be supported by publications in renowned international j
ournals.
Experience in developing working prototypes.
Drive, entrepreneurial behaviour, result and quality driven.
Excellent communication skills. English language skills to at least CET level
6.
