Shanghai Potential Paper Co., Ltd. (SPPC) was established in Shanghai by the US based Potential Group which owns 95% of the Sino-US joint venture (JV). SPPC has registered capital of US$54 million with a total investment of US$160 million.
Potential Group is a US based multi-national company established in Los Angeles California in 1975 with business activities in paper recycling, aluminum wheel manufacturing, papermaking, warehouse distribution, and real estate development. Since 1992 the Potential Group has invested in four JV projects in China.
SPPC manufactures high quality tissue paper and produces premier tissue products at our 62 acre site in the Baoshan area of Shanghai. Phase I was launched in August 2006 when a new state-of-the-art Italian “crescent former”tissue machine with a design speed of 2,000 meters per minute and a production capacity of 30,000 metric tons per year began producing tissue paper.
SPPC converts tissue paper into tissue products (bath tissue, facial and handkerchief tissue, napkin) using sophisticated converting equipment with the capacity of 30,000 metric tons at the mill site. Premium quality tissue products are marketed and sold in China under the brand name “Lotusoft”. Tissue paper is also being exported to other countries.
Phase II plans are underway to adopt advanced recycling and de-inking technology and manufacture tissue paper in an environmentally friendly manner. After Phase II and Phase III are completed SPPC will be one of the largest sites in China for tissue production and converting with an annual capacity of 150,000 tons per year.
